On 16 September 2016 the Awareness-building Seminar on mainstreaming biosafety into national policies for policy- and decision-makers has been held in Moldova. The Seminar was organized by the Ministry of Environment of Moldova, Biosafety Office with the support of CBD/CPB/UNEP project entitled “Capacity-building to promote integrated implementation of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and the Convention on Biological Diversity at the national level” in the Republic of Moldova. Conclusions, recommendations and suggestions resulted from the desk study and analysis of gaps and weaks of the secrotial policies and legislation, as well as improvements and feedback from the main stakeholders and authorities have been presented at the seminar. The NBSAP, as well as environmental, economical, agricultural, health care, educational sectorial policies have been reviewd and relevant suggestions and conclusions made to integrate Biosafety considerations and improve inter-sectorial coordination and cooperation. Public information and participation issues have been discussed as an important element to insure decision transparency and participatory principle. The sectorial governmental representatives, policy makers, local authority, farmers, non-governmental organisations, academia, education sector etc have attended the seminar.
