Profile of the Expert
Mohd Faiz is currently the Head of Program for our BSc(Hons) Biomolecular Science course. He graduated with a degree in Microbiology from the University of Malaya and completed his DPhil in Molecular genetics as a Islamic Development Bank Merit Scholar in the University of Oxford. Subsequently, he was awarded an international grant from the Wellcome Trust as a visiting research fellow in the University of Leicester. His responsibilities include teaching, research and administration. His main area of research is in genetic engineering and cellular biology of the model organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae and microbiology. He is also the Chairman of the Genetic Modification Advisory Committee under the National Biosafety Board.
