Resolution of the State Customs Committee (hereinafter SCC) of the Republic of Belarus prescribed that: -- SCC shall send information on the date of crossing the customs border of Belarus by genetically engineered organisms to the Institute of Genetics and Cytology (hereinafter – IGC) on form in accordance with the amendment of the present Resolution; -- information on the date of crossing the customs border shall be presented for goods with codes of universal goods nomenclature of external economic activity of the Customs Union as well as for goods being “Living modified organisms” or for goods containing them given such information in transportation (vehicular) documents. Transportation (vehicular) documents can also contain a short description (current in general use and (or) scientific), new or modified traits and characteristics such as transformation event, risk class, genetic modifications, reference to the identification number (code) and purpose.
      The Chief of the Customs Control Organization Office shall inform IGC: -- about officials, representatives for submitting information; -- about legal documents accepted by SCC in the safety field of genetic engineering activity; -- send information within five days after crossing the customs border by genetically engineered organisms; -- inform customs of additional orientating information jointly with Minsk Central Customs for revealing facts of transferring genetically engineered organisms through the customs border into or from Belarus.
      The Heads of customs shall (a) ensure interaction with organs of the State Phytosanitary Control and the State Veterinary Inspection for revealing facts of transferring genetically engineered organisms through the customs border of Belarus; (b) inform the Customs Control Organization Office within three days after crossing the customs border of Belarus by genetically engineered organisms with enclosing copies of transportation documents and stating numbers and dates of issuing appropriate permits by organs of the State Phytosanitary Control and the State Veterinary Inspection.
