Organization’s profile
The Molecular Biology Center (MBC) at the University of Central America (UCA) was founded in 1999 with financial support from a number of foundations, universities and private foundations with the purpose of improving science research and training in Nicaragua.  It became the first biotechnology research and training institution in Nicaragua.  The MBC provides a series of services in biotechnology, including forensic diagnostics, paternity testing, bioprospecting for potentially useful enzymes for industry and medicine, training in molecular biology practices and agricultural consulting regarding genetically modified seeds and crops.
