Description
Eucalyptus plants were modified to express the Cel1 protein, which is an endoglucanase. Expression of this protein increases the rate of wood growth and yield of the plant leading to an increased biomass volume area.

The nptII marker gene was also inserted into the modified plant.
Recipient Organism or Parental Organisms
The term Recipient organism refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas Parental organisms refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.
Eucalyptus globulus - Eucalyptus, Tasmanian Blue Gum, Southern Blue Gum, Blue gum
