Description
The oleate desaturase gene (E12) from Brassica napus in expresses in the anti-sense orientation leading to the inhibition of the desaturation of oleic acid (C18:1) to linoleic acid (C18:2) in the genetically modified oilseed rape plants.

As a result, the oleic acid content is increased in the seeds, while the linoleic and linolenic acid content is reduced.
