Nonstructural protein 1 (NS1) plays an essential role in immune
evasion, pathogenesis, and viral replication. NS1 is required for
the formation of the replication complex and recruitment of other
nonstructural proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum. NS1 also
travels to the plasma membrane, where it is excrete as a
lipoparticle and binds to macrophages and dendritic cells. NS1
inhibits Toll-like receptor 3 signal transduction.
