The Brassica napus FATTY ACID ELONGATION 1 promoter
contains cis-acting elements that promote gene expression
in embryo and endosperm (seed) tissues. In seedlings, the promoter
appears to be active in vascular tissues and may contribute to the
FAE1.1 gene activity in barrier lipid synthesis. The region between
-331 to -149 controls cotyledon-specific expression and level of
expression, while the region -640 to -475 enhances expression and
extends expression into the axis and hypocotyl. The -640 to -475
also represses expression in the root meristem.
