To achieve this objective the Institute operates with six strategic programs: Biodiversity Inventory, Conservation Biology, Use and Valuation, Policies and Legislation, Communication and Information, and Training.

The institute took the lead for the Implementation of the National Biosafety Framework in Columbia.
