Potato modified for altered starch composition
EN
Multiple events
No
The LMOs contain one of two constructs that are made up of an antisense cassette to inhibit expression of the endogenous granule bound starch synthase (GBSS)gene in potato. The constructs do not contain selection markers.
EN
The term “Recipient organism” refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas “Parental organisms” refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.

Characteristics of the modification process
pKGBA50mf-IR1.1 or pIRMASmf
EN
  • Agrobacterium-mediated DNA transfer
Some of these genetic elements may be present as fragments or truncated forms. Please see notes below, where applicable.
  • BCH-GENE-SCBD-14997-6 Granule bound starch synthase gene promoter | Solanum tuberosum (Potato, SOLTU)
    Promoter
  • BCH-GENE-SCBD-48072-3 Granule-bound starch synthase gene | Solanum tuberosum (Potato, SOLTU)
Protein coding sequence | altered carbohydrate composition: increased amylopectin content
  • BCH-GENE-SCBD-100269-8 Nopaline Synthase Gene Terminator | Agrobacterium tumefaciens (Agrobacterium)
    Terminator
Additional information on the inserted DNA sequences
pKGBA50mf-IR1.1 contains between the borders: GBSS promoter: Tuber specific and sugar inducible promoter of the GBSS gene from Solanum tuberosum; 1.1 kb of sense DNA sequences of the GBSS gene from Solanum tuberosum encoding the N-terminus of the GBSS protein; AS-GBSS: anti-sense strand of the GBSS gene from Solanum tuberosum; and the NOS terminator.

pIRMASmf contains between the borders: GBSS promoter: Tuber specific and sugar inducible promoter of the GBSS gene from Solanum tuberosum; M-GBSSI (antisense): 617 bp (bps. 1070-1687) of antisense strand of GBSS cDNA from Solanum tuberosum; M-GBSSI (sense): 761 bp (bps. 926-1687) of GBSS-cDNA from Solanum tuberosum; and the NOS terminator.
