Organization’s profile
Created in 1971 as a center of production of hybrid corn seeds production. It is the main institution in Albania dealing with issues of genetic and agrotechnical improvement of corn and rice species. The institute is a result of timely demands for increased production of grains. .
Production of maize in Albania has been and remains of strategic importance for the Albanian economy. Favourable ecological and soil factors of this country and increasing demands due to economic development, require deepening of scientific research for these crops.
