Brief description of the document including objective and scope:
The Ordinance on Deliberate Release of GMOs into the Environment (Freisetzungsverordnung BGBl. II Nr. 260/2005) is based on the Gene Technology Act and contains in detail the requirements for applicants for the approval of deliberate releases of GMOs in Austria. Furthermore the regulation details the principles for the risk assessment preceding authorisations for deliberate release and for the monitoring of GMO releases.

The regulation applies to deliberate releases of GMOs in Austria.
