Additional Information
Additional Information
Yieldgard maize (MON810) has obtained general release clearance (commercial planting/placing on the market) under the Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) Act, 1997 (Act No. 15 of 1997).

The South African Government does not require the information listed in Article 8 and the advanced informed agreement procedure in Article 10, for imports of MON810 maize hybrids.

The procedure to follow is to complete the application form for importation of a LMO that has obtained general release or commodity clearance under the GMO Act.

The applicant still need to comply with any other relevant legislation in South Africa, with particular reference to phytosanitary requirements.

The application form for importation of a LMO that has general release or commodity clearance status in SA is available on the website of the Department of Agriculture at http://www.nda.agric.za/docs/geneticresources/geneticcontrol.htm
