Submissions on Capacity-Building

Status of implementation of the Framework and Action Plan

Parties, other Governments, relevant organizations and indigenous peoples and local communities are invited to submit information on the status of implementation of the Framework and Action Plan for Capacity-Building for the Effective Implementation of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, including a summary of the results of the activities undertaken, good practices and lessons learned.

This invitation is pursuant to decision BS-VI/3 of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP-MOP), and is made in the context of operational objective 2 of the Strategic Plan for the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety for the period 2011-2020. In paragraph 6 of that same decision, the COP-MOP requested the Executive Secretary to prepare, for consideration by the regular meetings of the Parties, reports on the status of implementation of the Framework and Action Plan, on the basis of the submissions made by Parties, other Governments and relevant organizations.

Submissions may be sent online through the Biosafety Clearing-House or via e-mail to secretariat@cbd.int as soon as possible but no later than 30 June 2018 using the template available in notification SCBD/SPS/AL/MPM/MW/87278.

The information contained in the submissions will be compiled and presented to the ninth meeting of Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties, with a view to reporting on the status of implementation of the Framework and Action Plan, as described in the annex to the decision.
