EgyptEgypt - Interactive Workshop on Biosafety Information sharing for Decision Makers, Egypt
On Tuesday, 6 August 2019, the biosafety project of the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) organized an interactive workshop on the mechanisms and means of providing information related to biosafety in Egypt. The workshop was attended by representatives of government agencies, research centers and universities as well as representatives of civil society. The workshop comes within the framework of the implementation of the capacity building program for the concerned bodies of the National Biosafety Framework to contribute to the decision-making process related to it, thus contributing to the opportunity to fulfill Egypt's international obligations towards updating Egypt's data on the clearing-house mechanism on the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.

The interactive workshop aims to raise the capacity of stakeholders from using the international biosafety information portal, which includes all details related to capacity-building activities, projects, opportunities and means to assess the needs of capacity-building programs, as well as data on biosafety organizations, including laboratories for the detection of organisms. And national, regional and international bodies and organizations relevant to biosafety.

The interactive workshop is one of the most important activities carried out by the project to update Egypt's data regarding activities related to biosafety, which is also a good database for decision makers and all experts and interested in making decisions in this regard.
