Previously designed instruction and training for customs services helped create a platform for cooperation NBBC with the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Tajikistan and its units engaged in checking documents at border posts for products of animal and vegetable origin. However, the lack of Tajikistan GMO control laboratories, hampers and restricts such cooperation. Without special center laboratory identification of GMOs, customs control during limited to a single product line, and only in some complex cases, based on consultation with other professionals.

It is planned to update training courses for border posts of customs services.

Facts of import of LMOs in the country are not officially registered. There were several newspaper articles about the possible import into the country of LMOs. There are no events for such items has been conducted, in the absence of precise information from journalists. The materials were printed on the assumptions.

This situation suggests that Tajikistan relying on the existing national regulatory framework, it is necessary to develop and adopt new internal measures for the implementation of the AIA procedure of the Protocol. Tajikistan has not developed a format for authorization (Article 10).

Government of the Republic of Tajikistan established under the leadership of Prime Minister Council on Food Security, which is a platform to promote the development of procedures and safeguards and the fundamental legal and regulatory framework for authorization systems.

An additional control - control of the epidemiological situation, which is performed by the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tajikistan, which has a corresponding instruction. This authority controls food safety based on the sanitary norms and rules, as well as the safety of medicines.

The country has no laboratory to identify the LMOs, in this regard, even in the markets identified products containing LMOs that are not regulated in any way in terms of the potential adverse effects.

BCH has been operating since 2007, view information about the newly emerged market of LMO-FFPs. As a rule, much of the procurement of food products for supermarkets by private entrepreneurs (owners of the supermarket) alone and a limited number of parties (for their stores). Buy them at the grocery wholesale warehouses (suppliers, but not producers). When importing products into the country is declared only by codes (Nomenclature codes) of customs services. This makes it difficult to monitor LMO. Back in 2005, Tajikistan in the preparation of the National Biosafety Framework has identified the problem of control of LMOs at the border crossing customs stations - the need for the introduction of LMOs in international codes of product lines. The mechanism is to develop solutions.
