General information
Name of the gene or DNA sequence
BNYVV coat protein
Category of DNA sequence
  • Protein coding sequence
Is the gene / DNA sequence is a synthetic molecule?
Donor organism
Donor organism
Beet necrotic yellow vein virus - BNYVV
Characteristics of the protein coding sequence
Name of the protein expressed by the coding sequence
BNYVV coat protein
Biological function
RNA2 of the Beet Necrotic Yellow Vein Virus (BNYVV) carries the information for the viral coat protein, an important domain for encapsidation, vector transmissibility and cell-to-cell transmission.
Related trait(s) or use(s) in biotechnology
Additional Information
Additional Information
The genome of most European isolates of Beet Necrotic Yellow Vein Virus (BNYVV) consists of four single-stranded positive-strand RNA molecules. The functions required for infectivity are distributed over the four RNAs. Therefore, pathogenicity of the coat protein gene or protein alone can be excluded.
