The asiatic dayflower prefers full sun to partial shade, loam or sand soil texture and moist to occasionally dry soil drainage. It can be found in moist, shady forest edges, as well as in wet areas of crop fields, orchards, ditches, and roadsides. It grows best in open and disturbed areas, and along roadsides and woodland borders.
Native to Eastern Europe to Japan and Indo-China. Introduced to Central and Western Europe and North America.
