Profile of the expert
Giovanni Staiano he has achieved a master degree in biological science at University of Napoli "Federico II"  with a thesis on the biotechnology of 'Dunaliella salina'. He has developed skills in the field of plant physiology and plant biochemistry. Since 1999 he works at he Italian National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) where, until 2016, he held the position of GMO's Unit head. During his professional activity he worked on risk assessment and risk management of gmo's plants; he has participated in various working groups developing methodologies on gmo's risks evaluation. He represented Italy, as a delegate, at numerous WPIEI biosafety's meetings and at the COP MOP of the Cartagena Protocol on biosafety.
