Professor Sudheera Ranwala has pioneered in academic achievements, research, publications and contribution to the national development. She is a recipient of research projects funded by the National Science Foundation, National Research Council, Ministry of Environment and University of Colombo, and an author of peer reviewed and indexed international and national journal articles, conference proceedings, technical papers, book chapters, books and magazine articles. Sudheera has also organized seminars, conferences, and workshops. She has served as a member of the National Environment Council of Sri Lanka, National Working Committee on Biodiversity and Environment of the National Science Foundation and currently a member of the National Invasive Species Specialist Group (NISSG- Sri Lanka) and National Forestry Research Committee. Sudheera is an aluminus (scholar and fellow) of Commonwealth Commission of the United Kingdom, a Chartered and Fellow member of the Institute of Biology Sri Lanka, and also a consultant Plant ecologist at national level.
