legal basis: Directive 2001/18/EC, Gentechnikgesetz [German Gene Technology Act]
scope: test of field performance of LMO
authorization valid from 11 April 2008 to 31 December 2010
locations: experimental field located in 1 village in Germany; for details see German LMO/GMO location register (German language only) (http://194.95.226.237/stareg_web/showflaechen.do)

app. 600 LMO/site/year
some confinement measures:
• 3 m buffer zone (clover)
• control area of 35 m surrounding the wider experimental field (1 ha) on S. nigrum and related species
• machines in contact with LMO must be cleaned after use
• use of plantlets, no seeds
• max. 6 weeks of cultivation
• control on set of flower buds every second day
• abolish experiment in case of flower bud set
• fertile plant material must be transported in closed and clearly marked repositories
• plants will be removed by hand at end of experiment and destroyed
• control of release site and surrounding area until the end of experimental year

Field trial is planned with 3 different transformation events.
