The first step in the risk assessment is that if hazard identification. One needs to determine what the potential characteristics that may be expressed by the LMO that may pose a hazard to the environment.
Step 1:
Hazard identification
– The identification of the type and nature of adverse effects that an agent has the inherent capacity to cause on an organism, system, or (sub)population.
