This Ordinance prescribes safety measures for contained use of genetically modified organisms in accordance to the level of hazard, method of handling GMOs and other conditions for contained use of GMOs with respect to the level of hazards, as well as standards for facilities, for contained use of GMOs including equipment, method of operation, method for storing and destroying solid and liquid waste of the contained use of GMOs in a closed system, for the purpose of protecting human health, environment and/or biological diversity.

This Ordinance has been adopted pursuant to Article 14, paragraph 3 and Article 15, paragraph 6 of the Act on GMOs (Official Gazette No. 70/2005).
