Plant Protection is responsible for the management of all plants in the country with respect to the pests that affect - or can potentially affect - plants in Antigua and Barbuda. The work of the agency is guided by the Plant Protection Act No. 18 of 2012, Statutory Rules & Orders No. 10 (1959), the International Standards on Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CPB-CBD), and the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) as it relates to flora.
The Plant Protection Division also functions as the Enquiry Point for the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Agreement of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) - sps.enquiries@ab.gov.ag
