- This yeast species is often still referred to as Pichia pastoris, reflecting an earlier taxonomic classification. The name change to Komagataella pastoris resulted from updated genetic and molecular evidence. Despite the revised nomenclature, Pichia pastoris remains commonly used in scientific literature and product descriptions due to its long-standing presence in research and industry.
