TC1507 corn was obtained by genetic transformation methodology, via microparticle acceleration or bioballistics. Calli from immature corn embryos of the corn lineage of the Hi-Il hybrid were bombarded with the insert PHI899A, containing crylF and pat genes, a region from plasmid P11P8999.
CTNBio considers that the cultivation and consumption of TC1507 corn on a commercial scale are not activities that potentially cause significant degradation of the environment or harm to human and animal health. Restrictions on the use of the GMO under analysis and its derivatives are subject to the provisions of Normative Resolution No. 03 and Normative Resolution No. 04 of CTNBio
Studies presented by the applicant showed that there was no significant difference between corn hybrids derived from unmodified lines and TC1507 corn with respect to agronomic characteristics, such as yield, moisture at harvest, root lodging, ear height, plant height and others. In addition, there were also no significant differences in the mode of reproduction, dissemination or survivability of genetically modified corn in relation to unmodified corn lines. All the evidence presented in the process and in several bibliographic references (60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66) confirm the risk level of the transgenic variety as equivalent to non-transgenic varieties against the soil microbiota, vertebrate animals and non-target invertebrates, as well as other plants and human and animal health. Thus, the cultivation and consumption of TC1507 corn does not potentially cause significant environmental degradation or risks to human and animal health. For these reasons, there are no restrictions on the use of this corn or its derivatives.
No adverse effects of the corn lineage TC1507 on human health and the environment were observed.
The use of Bt technology in Brazil may contribute to reducing the use of insecticides and, consequently, reduce the impacts of the use of these pesticides on the environment, human and animal health, and may also have a positive impact on the preservation of populations of non-target organisms and beneficial insects, facilitating the integrated management of crop pests; This corn variant demonstrates low risk to human health, animal health and 4 r o / presents a risk of becoming a plant pest; Commercial use of the TC1507 corn lineage has been taking place in the USA since 2001, Argentina (2005), Colombia (2006), China (2004), Mexico (2003), South Africa (2002), Canada (2002), Australia (2003) , Japan (2002), Korea (2002), Philippines (2003), Taiwan (2003) and European Union (2006), without identifying problems related to the agronomic characteristics of the event.
The applicant responded to all the questions postulated in Normative Instruction No. 05 of the CTNBio and that none of the questions indicates that this corn may have adverse effects on human or animal food.
No other characteristics of the original organism that pose any risk to human health were modified and no adverse effects of the TC1507 corn lineage were observed in studies related to human health and the environment.
No other characteristics of the original organism that pose any risk to human health were modified and no adverse effects of the TC1507 corn lineage were observed in studies related to human health and the environment.
