There is no adverse effect on phenotypic characteristics and agronomic traits of soybean crops with stacked genes MON 87701 x MON 89788 for insect resistance and glyphosate herbicide tolerance, as well as the presence of both factors on the same plant.
According to risk assessment, the cultivation and consumption of soybean MON 87701 x MON 89788 do not cause significant environmental degradation or risk to human and animal health.
Soybean is an exotic species in Brazil and there are no parental species in the wild which are capable of interbreeding and lead to offspring. Gene flow between soybean plants have been studied in tropical conditions. Soy is an autogamous species, occurring at very low rates of outcrossing in this type of cultivar and location.
