MON-ØØ6Ø3-6 - Roundup Ready™ maize| Monsanto | Résistance aux herbicides (Glyphosate)
The risk level from this confined field trial is low. NK603 maize was produced by particle acceleration technology using a linear DNA restriction fragment from a plasmid vector. The CP4 EPSPS proteins expressed in NK603 maize have previously been risk-assessed by several global regulatory agencies with conclusions that the aforementioned product is as safe as its non-genetically modified counterpart and therefore is unlikely to have any adverse effect on human or animal health or the environment.
- Vertical gene transfer: Possibility of out-crossing with wild relatives of maize and conventionally cultivated maize
- Horizontal gene transfer
- Possibility of inadvertent loss of experimental material
- Possibility of increased fitness or competitive advantage
- Adverse effects on human and animal health including the possibility of toxic, allergenic, or pathogenic effects
- Changes in compositional components of various nutrients
- Gene disintegration leading to inaction of the Bt trait; and negative interaction of the single events
- Adverse effect on other non-targeted organisms leading to loss of biodiversity
