Application for the conduct of Confined Field Trials for assessment of Maize Event NK603 for tolerance to Glyphosate Formulation Roundup® Powermax SL 660

Détails de l’évaluation des risques
The risk level from this confined field trial is low. NK603 maize was produced by particle acceleration technology using a linear DNA restriction fragment from a plasmid vector. The CP4 EPSPS proteins expressed in NK603 maize have previously been risk-assessed by several global regulatory agencies with conclusions that the aforementioned product is as safe as its non-genetically modified counterpart and therefore is unlikely to have any adverse effect on human or animal health or the environment.

Méthode et points à examiner
  1. Vertical gene transfer: Possibility of out-crossing with wild relatives of maize and conventionally cultivated maize
  2. Horizontal gene transfer
  3. Possibility of inadvertent loss of experimental material
  4. Possibility of increased fitness or competitive advantage
  5. Adverse effects on human and animal health including the possibility of toxic, allergenic, or pathogenic effects
  6. Changes in compositional components of various nutrients
  7. Gene disintegration leading to inaction of the Bt trait; and negative interaction of the single events
  8. Adverse effect on other non-targeted organisms leading to loss of biodiversity
