The stacked event MON87701 x MON89788 soybean obtained from conventional breeding of the genetically modified soybean events MON87701 and MON89788 to express Bt-toxin (Cry1Ac protein) which confers protection against certain lepidopteran pests and CP4 EPSPS protein which confers tolerance to glyphosate herbicide. According to the existing scientific data and information available during the safety assessment, it is concluded that the stacked event MON87701 x MON89788 soybean is expected to be as safe as the single events that has previously been assessed by the food biosafety subcommittee and technical biosafety committee of the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC).
