Assessment of the intactness of the inserted loci and genotypic stability
[#1190]
I do not agree with the need to assess the molecular properties of the inserts for stacked traits that were brought together by conventional breeding of single events. The molecular characterization of single events should be sufficient. I think that the Mendelian pattern of inheritance is sufficient to show genetic stability. And a comparison between the performance of the single events and the stacked variety should be able to show any differences between the expression of the trait in the single event and the stacked variety. The resulting stacked varieties are often the result of a breeding program where breeders traditionally select against those lines with unwanted properties.
The expression of a trait is what affects the environment anyway.
