This guidance sets the necessary steps to ensure that the assessment of potential adverse effects on biodiversity is done in accordance with the Japanese Law concerning the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity. It is designed to enable an applicant who wishes to obtain approval for an LMO to perform a scientifically sound risk assessment and to properly prepare the Risk Assessment Report.
