OKA-NBØØ2-9
Arctic Apple are modified to resist to enzymatic browning  by inserting a chimeric polyphenol oxidase (PPO) suppression element derived from apple PPO sequences. The flesh of modified apples subjected to mechanical damage, such as slicing or bruising, does not brown as compared to a conventional apple.
EN
The term “Recipient organism” refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas “Parental organisms” refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.

Some of these genetic elements may be present as fragments or truncated forms. Please see notes below, where applicable.
PCR and southern blot analysis indicate that the presence of both the 3' end of the PPO suppression transgene and the NptII selection marker as well as the presence of an intact copy of the PPO suppression portion of the insert.

Southern data, combined with Mendelian Inheritance data indicates that GD784 contains four unlinked insertions. Southern blots also indicates that there is no evidence for inclusion of a complete copy of the vector backbone in the modified genome.
