Cassava was genetically modified for reduced starch metabolism in the tuber after pruning, prior to crop harvest.
The modification was carried out through the insertion of an RNAi construct that was designed to suppress endogenous expression of each of alpha-amylase 3 which is involved in is involved in the release of branched malto‐olicosaccharides from the starch granule.
