Vernalization 1
EN
The vernalization 1 protein coding sequence encodes a MADS-box transcription factor that promotes the transition from vegetative to reproductive development. The protein contains a conserved MADS DNA-binding domain and functions as a transcriptional regulator of genes involved in the transition from vegetative to reproductive development. VRN1 expression is induced by prolonged cold exposure and contributes to flowering after vernalization by regulating downstream flowering and developmental genes.

The HvVRN1 gene is 9,563 bp in length.
