Resistance to the fungus Venturia inaequalis, causative agent of the disease called apple scab, is the trait that was introduced. No further marker or other genes are present.

The recombinase located on the pMF1 backbone can be activated by adding dexamethason resulting in the excision of the vector backbone. As a result of this excision only the intended trait will be present in the LMO.

Three distinct constructs were generated:
SPVf2: RB --> Native HcrVf2 gene promoter --> Hcr2Vf2 coding region --> Native HcrVf2 gene terminator --> LB
CH12: RB --> Native HcrVf2 gene promoter --> Hcr2Vf2 coding region --> Native HcrVf2 gene terminator --> LB
RbcVf2: RB --> Apple Rubisco promoter --> HcrVf2 --> Apple Rubisco Terminator --> LB
