Potato resistant to Phytophthora infestans| Resistance to antibiotics (Kanamycin), Resistance to diseases and pests (Phytophthora infestans resistance)
- B-SE-04-1101-Final-Report-SE.pdf [ English ]
No difference regarding persistence in Agricultural habitats or invasiveness in natural habitats compared to conventional potato varieties is expected. Due to the measures to be taken during the release (distance to or absence of cultivated and wild relatives) will the potential for gene transfer virtually to be excluded. Interactions of the GM postato lines with non-target species and resulting effects will be comparable to those of conventional potato varieties. No toxic or allergenic effects are expected from the introduced resistance, nor from the nptII gene. Measures in Place under current field trial practice will safeguard that all tubers and plant material is properly managed, harvested, stored, transported or disposed of, to minimize Contact to humans or animals. No effects are expected on biogeochemical processes.
EN
No negative effects are expected
EN
Measures are in place to prevent possible transfer of genes to other potato varieties or wild relatives.
EN
No effects are expected

Brief description of the measures taken for the management of risks:
- isolation distance: 20 m
- careful harvest to avoid volunteers
- transportation in specific vehicles, closed containers or double sacks
- adjusted crop rotation: fallow field the following year, no potato crop for one additional year
- destruction of waste material

REgular inspection (2-5 times/week) to see if any unforeseen events occur. Inspections will be made at least once a month of the field trial site the season after the trial to detect for gm potatoes that may be left in the field. The field will be placed in fallow the year after the field trial.

- Investigate expression and stability of modified trait
- Investigate the agricultural value of the modified lines, especially resistance to P. infestans
- Produce seed potatoes for future trials.
The Swedish Board of Agriculture has the whole notification. Parts which are not confidential are public accessible.
At the EU Joint research center website the notification of this risk assessment has no. B/SE/05/450
