It adopts the following legal documents and procedures: - regulatory and legal acts and technical regulatory acts in the field of safety in genetic engineering activities of the second, third and fourth risk levels, exercised for contained use;
- issues according to the specified procedure, permits for performing genetic engineering activities in contained use systems of the second, third and fourth risk levels;
- issues according to the specified procedure, permits for import into the Republic of Belarus, export from the Republic of Belarus and transit through its territory of opportunistic pathogenic and pathogenic genetically engineered organisms;
- it establishes safety requirements to transportation of opportunistic pathogenic and pathogenic genetically engineered organisms;
- it establishes procedure on assessment of risk of potential harmful impacts of genetically engineered organisms on human health;
- it exercises state registration of genetically engineered micro-organism strains within its competence;
- it exercises state control in the field of safety in genetic engineering activities within its competence; and
exercises other powers according to the legislation.
