The flippase recombinase recognition target sequences (FRT) are recognized by flippase to mediate a recombination event. Flippase is a site-specific recombinase, which catalyzes a reversible reaction between two recombination sites (FRT), leading to the deletion or inversion of the intervening DNA fragments depending on the relative orientation of the recombination sites (FRT).
