The Populus trichocarpa cellulose synthase (CesA8-B) promoter conveys high levels of tissue-specific expression in phloem fibers, xylem fibers and xylem ray parenchyma cells. However, expression can also be expected in leaf veins, trichomes, petiole xylem vessels, primary xylem, the root vascular bundle and the root cap. Compared to other cellulose synthase promoters in this poplar, the CesA8-B promoter is more active in mature xylem and phloem tissues.
