The Joint Research Centre (JRC) provides scientific and technical support to EU policies by collaborating with EC Directorates General and relevant European Institutions, Organizations and Industries through networking with Member States laboratories.

The Biotechnology and GMOs Unit has developed a profound knowledge in, and has designed, adapted or validated advanced methods for, GMO detection and quantification. These are transferred to collaborating laboratories through publications, training materials and user manuals, collaborative projects and specific training courses. The JRC provides general training in detection and quantification of GMOs as well as individual training tailored to specific needs.
