In laboratory conditions, optimal growth occurs at around 30°C. It can tolerate temperatures ranging from 15°C to 35°C. The ideal pH for growth is between 5.0 and 6.5. Komagataella pastoris is an aerobic organism, and oxygen is essential for efficient growth, especially when utilizing methanol as a source of carbon.

Additional Information
  1. Komagataella pastoris is widely used in biotechnology, particularly for the production of recombinant proteins.
  2. This yeast species is often still referred to as Pichia pastoris, reflecting an earlier taxonomic classification. The name change to Komagataella pastoris resulted from updated genetic and molecular evidence. Despite the revised nomenclature, Pichia pastoris remains commonly used in scientific literature and product descriptions due to its long-standing presence in research and industry.
  3. Reference genome ASM170810v1 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2016). Strain: ATCC 28485.
