Risk assessment details
  • MON-8746Ø-4 × MON-89Ø34-3 × MON-88Ø17-3 - Maize Modified for drought and glyphosate tolerance and resistance to Lepidoptera and Coleoptera
    | Resistance to antibiotics (Kanamycin), Resistance to diseases and pests (Insects, Coleoptera (beetles), Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths)), Resistance to herbicides (Glyphosate), Tolerance to abiotic stress (Cold / Heat, Drought)
The stacked event MON87460 × MON89034 × MON88017 maize obtained from conventional breeding of the genetically modified maize events MON87460, MON89034 and MON88017 to express Cold shock protein B (CSPB) which provide tolerate cultivation under water limited conditions (drought tolerant), three Bt-toxins : Cry1A.105 and Cry2Ab2 proteins which provide protection to certain lepidopteran pests and Cry3Bb1 protein which provide protection to certain coleopteran pests, and CP4 EPSPS protein which confers tolerance to glyphosate herbicide. According to the existing scientific data and information available during the safety assessment, it is concluded that the stacked event MON87460 × MON89034 × MON88017 maize is expected to be as safe as the single events that has previously been assessed by the food biosafety subcommittee and technical biosafety committee of the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC).
