This law ensures the protection of human health and consumers' interests by regulating:

a) general demands and principles related to hygiene and food and feed safety ;
b) obligatons of food and feed business operators related to hygiene and food and feed safety;
c) general demands related to food quality;
d) general demands on the registration of geographical markers and nomination of controlled origin;
e) general demands related to labelling of food and feed;
f) general demands on release on the market of food and feed;
g) general demands on market release of novel food and feed;
h) system of official control of food and feed;
i) laboratory system authorized for analysis and reference laboratories ;
j) crisis and emergency management;
k) creation of National Food Authority;
l) responsibilities of National Food Authority and Competent Authority related to food and feed produced in the Republic of Albania or imported and released in the market in the Republic of Albania.
