The Support Unit of the General Directorate of Agrarian Productions and Markets (Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment)is responsible for exercising the administrative functions required by the Protocol in accordance with the Real Decreto 367/2010.
The decision-making process under the Spanish national biosafety framework for reaching a decision on the authorization of the use of any living modified organisms involve different ministries through the Interministerial Council on Genetically Modified Organisms (CIOMG), attached to the General Directorate of Agrarian Productions and Markets (Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment).
Also, due to the Administrative organization of the country the Autonomous Communities have duties and competences regarding LMO.
