As a result of the conducted risk assessment of possible harmful effects on human health and the environment of a transgenic potato line with integrated sequences of the Cas9 gene, the protein product of which introduces double-strand breaks in the DNA chain in the target genes StDMR6-1, StCHL1, and the HygR gene, the authorized organization (Institute of Forestry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus) believes that the risk of releasing the declared transgenic potato line into the environment for testing in an experimental field that meets the biosafety requirements for experimental fields and other facilities intended for testing non-pathogenic genetically engineered organisms is low. The transgenic line of the Yulia potato variety presented by the Applicant with an integrated sequence of the Cas9 gene, which ensures the knockout of the target genes StDMR6-1, StCHL1, which are regulators of plant defense responses, and the HygR gene, which provides resistance to the antibiotic hygromycin, can be released into the environment for testing on the territory of an experimental field that meets the biosafety requirements for experimental fields and other facilities intended for testing non-pathogenic genetically engineered organisms.
