The stacked soybean line DAS-68416-4 x MON-89788-1 was obtained through the traditional cross breading of each of the parental organisms to produce a soybean that expresses each of Cry1Ac and EPSPS genes. The expression of these genes are expected to confer tolerance to glufosinate, gyphosate and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D).

The term “Recipient organism” refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas “Parental organisms” refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.

DNA insert from MON-89788-1, vector PV-GMGOX20
MON89788 is a second-generation glyphosate-tolerant soybean product, was developed by introduction of the cp4 epsps gene cassette consisting of a chimeric promoter sequence derived from Arabidopsis thaliana Tsf1 gene promoter and enhancer sequences and from the 35S of the Figwort Mosaic Virus.

DNA insert from DAS-68416-4, vector pDAB4468
DAS-68416-4 soybean was modified with the insertion of a gene encoding aryloxyalkanoate dioxygenase and phosphinothricin N-acetyltransferase to confer tolerance to the herbicides 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and glufosinate respectively.
