Characteristics of the protein coding sequence
Fe(II)/2-oxoglutarate-dependent oxygenase
EN
Triketone dioxygenase is Fe(II)/2-oxoglutarate-dependent oxygenase that detoxifies β-triketone herbicides by catalyzing their hydroxylation. Thus, it confers tolerance to benzobicyclon, mesotrione and other β-triketone herbicides. These herbicides inhibit the enzyme 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase, which is involved in tyrosine catabolism and in the biosynthesis of cofactors plastoquinone and tocopherol in plant cells.
