The Government of Zimbabwe is participating in a project aimed at promoting the development and adoption of Genome Editing tools to advance agriculture and food systems in Africa. During this project, a national Genome Editing Communication and Advocacy strategy was developed. The purpose of this training was to inform regulators about the regulatory road map for Genome Editing in Zimbabwe as well as to gain understanding of the regulatory frameworks in other countries.

Results
Participants received training on the science of Genome Editing and regulation thereof.
It is important to train all key regulators on new and emerging technologies before developing regulatory frameworks. In addition, participating in regional projects helps in harmonizing regulations.
