Responsibilities
Pursuant to the National Biosafety Law, the responsibility for issuing, renewing and revoking licenses, and supervising and monitoring of LMOs (e.g. contained use, intended release, transport and packaging and transboundary movements (export, import and transit)) related to agriculture and natural resources such as agronomy, horticulture, forests, pastures, deserts, fisheries, livestock, poultry and bee keeping, silkworm,  livestock and poultry feed, pests and diseases related to these cases, and biological agents used in this sector are the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture Jahad. 

Dr. Mojtaba Khayam Nekouei, as head of Agriculture Biosafety Committee and Director General of Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO), acts as representative of Ministry of Agriculture Jahad to follow duties of the Ministry as one of the National Competent Authorities of Islamic Republic of Iran related to CPB.
