Dr. Yaw Gyau Akyereko is a Lecturer and Researcher at the Koforidua Technical University with a PhD in Food Science and Technology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. His expertise spans across various domains such as food biotechnology, food safety, food quality assurance, post-harvest technology, food waste valorization, and consumer or sensory science. He has over seven years teaching, research and consultancy experience with 18 peer-reviewed publications and numerous conference proceedings. Dr. Akyereko has been instrumental in national initiatives such as the Planting for Food and Jobs program, National Rice Investment Action Plan, National Seed Plan, and the Grains and Legumes Development Bill, and currently served as the Vice president of the National Seed Trade Association of Ghana (NaSTAG) and Board member of the Competitive Africa Rice Platform. He is also the Head of the Technical and Standards, and Biotechnology committees of NaSTAG responsible for dissemination and management of technical and biotechnical issues relating to the seed sector.
